Business Division Department II
In the early years, the cast iron pipes and galvanized steel pipes were used by gas companies for gas distribution in the region of Taipei, which often experienced corrosion and gas leakage. Thus, the Piping Department was established in 1986 and introduced metric system PE piping, ductile iron soft seated gate valves from Switzerland VonRoll Group.
On 17th January 1995, the Great Hanshin Earthquake occurred in Japan and caused the deaths of over 5,000 people, as well as fires generated from gas leakage. The main reason for this mass leakage of gas was the material of cast iron pipes. The leakage was from the flanged joints due to earthquake displacement. It took three months to restore the damage.
On 21st September 1999, the Great Jiji Earthquake took place in the central region of Taiwan and 320,000 homes had no gas and water supply. However, the areas using PE gas pipes suffered the least damage. Thus the advantages of earthquake resistance and corrosion proof for PE pipes were firmly evidenced in this event.
Currently the major product lines of Business Division Department II are PE and PP piping systems. PE products are mainly used in civil and public industries; while PP products are used for acid drainage systems in the chemical and semi-conductor industries. In the future, we will continue to introduce new piping materials and technology to meet customer needs.
